Hair: Ivory blond, dead straight, slightly coarse. Sticks up if he wears it too short, so he lets it get a little long, though still well above the collar. Gets absolutely ridiculous bedhair. Beard, eyebrows and body hair are similarly light, though not as pale as the hair on his head.
Eyes: Large, angular and narrow. Some would call them squinty. Bright china blue. They tend to change a little depending on what he's wearing. When he's tired they seem paler.
Skin: Very fair and fairly smooth. Sunburns easily. Usually has pink cheeks and lips.
Facial Features: Narrow, angular jaw completes a heart-shaped face. Small, slightly crooked nose, thin lips, and a mouth that curves up in the hint of a smile when his face is relaxed.
Other Physical Traits: Short, slender and built for speed. Ginta is like a miniature greyhound in build, and is always in motion. He has a liveliness about him that's ever present and infectious. Because of his profession, he works out and is well muscled, but if he didn't, he'd be almost delicate looking.
Handedness: Left handed.
Voice: Light high tenor. Often has a note of teasing or sarcasm in the undertone.
Identifying Marks: ANBU tattoo on his left biceps. Relatively old surgical scar on left hip. Somewhat newish scar on right side just under his ribcage.
Usual Clothing: ANBU uniform or jounin uniform on duty. Off duty he has a somewhat eclectic style. Some days he wears traditional, though not particularly conservative dress. Dark kimono with bright designs. His favorite is black silk with a pattern of red maple leaves scattered about. Or he wears somewhat loud t-shirts and jeans. Cargo pants. Board shorts.

Living Situation: Lives in a third-floor exterior apartment, #301, in ANBU HQ.

Ninja Skills
Fighting Style: Ginta is a genjutsu specialist, but he's skilled with ninjutsu, too. His twin elementals are water and electricity, which he uses in his ninjutsu. He's very speedy, which he uses to his advantage in taijutsu. He actually enjoys hand-to-hand combat, unusual in a genjutsu specialist. He tends to utilize methods that use his opponents' own power and momentum against them.
Preferred Weapons: Ginta is adept with a katana, but he generally prefers a shorter kodachi. He likes wires and garrotes. His chief weapon, however is his genjutsu.
Special Jutsu: Genjutsu specialist
Service Record: Graduated from the Academy at the age of 9, and served on two different genin teams. His first jounin-sensei was killed in action on a mission along with one of his students. The survivors, Ginta and a girl named Nina were assigned to different sensei after that. It wasn't unusual, in those days of warfare, for a genin team to be broken up. Promoted in the field to chuunin when he was 13, by his sensei, Saito Ichiro. When he was 16 the Fox attacked. Ginta was on a squadron of chuunin and jounin that attacked from the beast's left flank. Of the twenty ninja that made the assault, Ginta was one of only five who survived. Promoted to jounin through ordinary examination and recommendation channels at 17. Joined ANBU shortly after his 19th birthday. While in ANBU has run several missions under the alias 'Seishi' that involved working with non-ANBU Leaf shinobi, never revealing his face or true name to his non-ANBU colleagues.

Personality
General Personality Traits: Bouncy, hyperactive, lively. Quick mind. Outgoing and self confident. Can't sit still. Never gives a straightforward answer to personal questions. You can never be sure if what he's telling you has any relationship to the truth. Described by even those who are most fond of him as a "twisty little bugger." Has high highs and infrequent but very low lows.
Quirks: Ginta dislikes being touched unless he's in control. It makes him really edgy when people touch him. It's not all the time. But there are certain things. Like if he catches motion in his peripheral vision that's close to his head, he is instantly on high alert. And if he's out just walking around with a boyfriend, and the boyfriend tries to pull him in for a hug, he kind of shudders. He's basically keyed up and edgy, on his guard a lot of the time. Easily startled.

Relationships
Family: Maternal grandmother, mother and step-father all living. His grandmother is one of the wealthy of Fire country, living in a villa on the outskirts of Konoha where she entertains daimyou and diplomats. Ginta never knew his father, and in fact doesn't know who he is or was. His mother says he was a shinobi and died in the line of duty, but she's never shown Ginta so much as a photograph. His family name, Sakamoto, is that of his grandmother. His mother remarried when Ginta was 11. He and his stepfather have a mutual dislike so strong that if you could bottle it, it would be an ANBU-grade poison.
Friends: Lots of people would call Ginta friendly, but no one is quite sure who his real friends are. Truth be told, he's really not that close to anyone. He mostly hangs around with his fellow ANBU.
Lovers: Most recent lover was one of the Intel coder geeks. He's had a string of not particularly meaningful relationships over the last two years. Before that he had a somewhat serious relationship with another jounin that lasted nearly 19 months, and ended in a very messy and public breakup when Ginta joined ANBU.
Hero: Nidaime Hokage, who held the village together when it seemed war was certain to tear it asunder, and saw the rise to glory of Konohagakure, and the fulfillment of his brother, the Shodai Hokage's great works.
Enemies: His stepfather, a variety of foreign ninja in whose bingo books Ginta appears.

Personal History: Born out of wedlock to the only daughter of the wealthy and socially prominent Sakamoto family, Ginta spent his earliest years living with his mother in a seedy apartment in an older neighborhood in Konoha. Her family shunned their daughter, who had, as they said, made her bed and had to lie in it. Ginta's grandfather, Sakamoto Gousuke, had been a ninja in the early days of Konoha's founding, survived the turbulent war years, and ultimately risen to a position of prominence on the village council. He an old-fashioned hard-line hawk, valuing honor and duty above all else. His daughter, as he saw it, had brought shame on his family.

The elder Sakamoto's wife however, couldn't find it in her heart to turn her daughter out forever. She made regular visits to see her daughter and grandson, provided them with living expenses, and generally doted on young Ginta. When it became clear that the blood of Ginta's unknown shinobi father and his well-known grandfather were running true in the scion, Ginta was enrolled in the ninja academy at the age of five. His mother reconciled with her father in part because of Ginta, and they went to live in the Sakamoto compound.

When Ginta was 11, his mother remarried. His stepfather, a civilian merchant, was to Ginta's eyes an obsequious social climber. He and Ginta fought frequently and vociferously. When Ginta was 16 he moved out of the family compound and into a small apartment in the heart of Konoha, in part to get away from "that man".

The Fox's attack on Konoha was a turning point for Ginta. His grandfather died fighting the beast, as did Ginta's much beloved sensei, his teammates, and a number of his friends. Ginta refocused himself in the following months, making it his goal to make a name for himself his grandfather would recognize from the afterlife.

He fell in love when he was 17 with a 25 year old jounin colleague, and came out to his family as gay. He and Tomoya were very close, even going so far as to get an apartment together. Ginta's sexual preference was something his family found hard to accept, however. His grandmother continued (and continues) her attempts to arrange a marriage for her grandson. Ginta's counter that she can get heirs from a sperm bank does not do anything to resolve the tension surrounding the subject.

When Ginta decided to apply for ANBU, his relationship with Tomoya was already starting to fracture. The age difference added to Ginta's essential slipperiness were taking their toll. The more Tomoya asked for commitment, the more Ginta chafed. He cheated. He lied. And in the end Tomoya, in a desperate attempt to hold on to the dying relationship, took actions that were, in Ginta's eyes, unforgivable. There was bloodshed. There were arrests. And shortly thereafter, Ginta moved into the ANBU compound.

His current plans have him staying in ANBU indefinitely. Or at least until he can move on to bigger and better things.
